What's the job?
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager to manage projects effectively and professionally in accordance with Apex’s policies and procedures. A key part of this role is understanding the technical elements of each project and being able to effectively manage the construction phase to ensure that the project is delivered on time, on budget and that it meets all technical requirements of the design.
We want someone who can
- Manage project budgets and costs to achieve estimated margins
- Prepare and maintain an accurate project forecast/ cost to completion throughout the duration of the project
- Understand the various forms of contract, FIDIC, 3910,3916 etc
- Ensure all project communications and variations are captured and communicated effectively with clients
- Review and understand the design for each project and ensure that it is robust and fit for purpose, including civils, process, M&E and automation
- Work with the design team to convert PID’s into layout site layout drawings
- To accurately estimate work, by producing schedules and organising pricing from sub-contractors and suppliers
- Co-ordinate or assist in the co-ordination of all site activities including site establishment, sub-contractor management, daily pre-starts and toolbox meetings
- Preparation of project programmes
- Ensure site workflow by ensuring drawings, programme and project milestones are communicated to all team members, including the client and sub-contractors
- Ensure that all items/services are procured within the project budget
- Prepare all project documentation, including work method statements, ITP’s manuals and commissioning documents
You will be able to:
- Develop and maintain open and honest relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and consultant engineers
- Maintain good working relationships within Apex Water
- Liaise and develop relationships with key personnel within Citycare Group
- Seek open feedback and ensure positive relationships to ensure lasting relationships
- Ensure that Apex Water processes and procedures are always implemented onsite and ensure that all sub-contractors and employees work within the confines of the H&S and Environmental policies
- Always ensure that the management team lead by example
About you:
- Appropriate technical qualifications at tertiary level, BE or equivalent
- Construction skills and knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of water and wastewater treatment, chemicals and their storage and handling
- Knowledge of business systems and their application
- Strong computer literacy and working knowledge of the Microsoft suite
- Awareness of H&S in construction
- 3 years’ plus experience in water and wastewater processes
- 10 years as a Project Manager or equivalent in infrastructure-based projects
- Detailed knowledge of site Health and Safety and the H&S Act
- Be an excellent communicator and influencer
- Strong relationship builder
- Strong teambuilding skills
- Practical knowledge and skills for the contracting industry.
- A strong ability to communicate effectively with clients, sub-contractors and suppliers
