Apex introduces Oxymem MABR technology to New Zealand
The plant has been designed to be easily upgradeable to allow for future growth within the Raglan community. To do this the first stage of the process, which will be MABR (membrane aerated biofilm reactors from OXYMEM) is configured to allow for the addition of more MABR modules that can increase the flow capacity by up to double the flow.
The effluent quality will be greatly improved for modern discharge consent requirements.
The final process stage is MBR, (membrane bioreactor) and provides for a very high-quality discharge. MABR is a relatively new technology that enables significantly more treatment to be achieved in the same size plant whilst reducing power use.
Implementing this technology from the outset means this will be one of New Zealand’s first full scale MABR plants and represents a globally significant application of this new technology.
